4.2.3. Right Section

4.2.3.1. Link/Unlink Channels switch
This switch links or unlinks both channels. When channels are linked, the values of each
channel mirror those of the other channel. This way, when you edit ANY of the two channels,
the other one changes exactly the same way. By default, the switch is in the Link position,
which means that any change made on one channel is replicated on the other. To unlink,
just click it and the Link button will turn off.
When the switch is in the Unlink position, each channel becomes independent, allowing for
different values.
4.2.3.2. Stereo/Dual Mono Channels switch
This switch activates the Dual Mono behavior. Stereo and dual mono refer to the internal
sidechains and their computed gain reductions, and whether they are independent or not.
When the switch is in the Dual Mono position, the compressor acts as two channels with
independent side-chains. If the mode is Stereo, the compression is driven by the average of
both channels side-chain signals.
You may want parameters linked or unlinked, to keep things balanced in terms of gain
reduction, but with slightly different adjustments for the two channels (more useful in M/S
than in Stereo).
With the Stereo/Dual Mono alternative, combined with the Stereo (LR) versus M/S alternative,
you can fine tune what is triggering the compression, without the stereo image shifting
(stereo mode) or the wideness changing (M/S).
4.2.3.3. Stereo (LR) vs M/S switch
This switch controls the way the plug-in works when instantiated in stereo channels. Default
behavior is the stereo mode, where both channels are treated the regular way (Left and
Right).
