17.2 Cleaning the Lawn Mower
► Switch the lawn mower off, pull out the activation key and
remove the battery.
► Clean the lawn mower with a damp cloth.
► Clean the discharge chute and side discharge chute with
a soft brush or a damp cloth.
► Remove any foreign bodies from the battery compartment
and clean the battery compartment with a damp cloth.
► Clean the electric contacts in the battery compartment
with a paintbrush or a soft brush.
► Clean the ventilation slots with a paintbrush.
► Upend the lawn mower.
► Clean the area around the blade and the blade with a
stick, a soft brush or a damp cloth.

► Clean the battery with a damp cloth.
18 Maintenance
18.1 Sharpening and Balancing the Blade
Correctly sharpening and balancing the blade requires a lot
of practice.
STIHL files, filing aids and sharpeners help you sharpen the
blade correctly.
STIHL recommends you have the blade resharpened and
balanced by a STIHL servicing dealer.
WARNING
The blade's cutting edges are sharp. There is a risk of cut
injuries.
► Wear work gloves made of durable material.
► Switch off the mower, remove the activation key and
battery.
► Stand the mower on end.

► Remove the blade.

► Use a STIHL flat crosscut file to sharpen the cutting edge
(2). The file only sharpens on the forward stroke. Maintain
the specified sharpening angle, @ 21.2.
► Turn the blade (1) over.
► Sharpen the other cutting edge (2).
► Mount the blade.
► If you have any queries: Contact your STIHL servicing
dealer for assistance.
19 Repairing
19.1 Repairing the Mower and Battery
The mower, blade and battery cannot be repaired by the
user.
► If the mower or the blade is damaged: Do not use your
mower and contact your STIHL servicing dealer for
assistance.
► If the battery has a malfunction or is damaged: Replace
the battery.
► If safety labels are illegible or damaged: Have the labels
replaced by a STIHL servicing dealer.
