This User Guide will explain the basics of HASP key installation, configuration and management.

    BASIC DETAILS HASP Keys Installation and Configuration Guide 1.4 Scope of Supply The scope of supply of the STC licensed software includes a CD which contains the following: • Pre-requisites required to install licensed software operation (including HASP driver) • STC licensed software. In case the software is designed to be protected with a hardware HASP key, the scope of supply includes the USB HASP.

    To install a HASP key, you must have the administrator privileges. To learn how to install HASP HL Time or HASP HL Pro local hardware keys, use the instructions given in Installing Hardware HASP.

    INSTALLING LOCAL HASP HASP Keys Installation and Configuration Guide 3.2 Installing Software HASP 3.2.1 Activating a Trial Version Trial versions are available only for the products intended for local use (on a single PC). To get a trial version, contact STC sales team. A product lead will then provide you with the relevant installation package and an .exe file containing the HASP SL Trial key.

Finally, run the installed STC software by clicking on its shortcut on your desktop or via the Start menu. 3.2.1.3 Using the .exe File Run the .exe file intended for the trial key installation.

    INSTALLING LOCAL HASP HASP Keys Installation and Configuration Guide 3.2.2 Online Activation For online activation, you must open TCP ports 80 and 443 on your computer. You can activate online any product protected with a software key (except the trial key). Online activation requires a stable internet connection, as it is performed via the Customer Portal.

Figure 7: Activation page While the activation is in progress, you may get one or more Security Warnings from Java. In each warning dialog click Run to allow Java to start the application(s).

    INSTALLING LOCAL HASP HASP Keys Installation and Configuration Guide When activating a key in the Key Activation dialog, make sure to always select New Key. Otherwise, you will re-write the information on an existing key which will stop working for the product it has worked for before.
  • Page 15 INSTALLING LOCAL HASP HASP Keys Installation and Configuration Guide For offline activation, you will be supplied with the RUS Branding utility a .txt file with the product key consisting of numeric and alphabetic characters. The RUS Branding utility and the .txt file may be included into the installation package or sent via email (depending on the product you purchased).
  • Page 16 INSTALLING LOCAL HASP HASP Keys Installation and Configuration Guide 3.2.3.1 Generating C2V File Run the RUS Branding utility (RUS_Branding_STC.exe file) on the computer you want to install the software key to. Using the utility, generate a .c2v file containing a snapshot of the computer configuration. This will link the key with the computer.

Sometimes, while working with the software product, you may need to modify the license terms (e.g., acquire licenses to use additional components or features).

To do so, first, click Start > Control Panel. Once in the Control Panel, type services in the search box (Fig. 25).

In the web app, select Sentinel Keys (Fig. 27). Such a server is called a network key server. A network HASP may comprise 10,50 or 250+ licenses. All STC products use a floating license, which means you can install any product on a limitless number of computers.

In case there is only one network solution protected with a HASP key, make sure to configure Broadcast Search for Remote Licenses on each client computer. In case there is more than one network solution protected with a HASP key, configure Aggressive Search for Remote Licenses client computers.
