Stage 32 AVB Card Replacement
This document shows how to replace the AVB card in Avid

Required Items

This procedure requires the following items:
• #1 Phillips screwdriver (6-inch or longer)
• A clean, padded work surface
• Anti-static wrist strap (not included). Make sure you are electrically grounded and discharge static before working

Prepare the I/O Rack Unit

Do the following to prepare your Stage 32:
Shut down your VENUE system and power down your Stage 32.

Disconnect all cables from your Stage 32.

Using a #1 Phillips screwdriver, remove the 18 fasteners that secure the top of the Stage 32 top panel to the chassis.

Remove the two fasteners that secure the front lip of the top panel to the front of the Stage 32 chassis.

  • Page 2 Remove the five fasteners that secure the back lip of the top panel to the back of the Stage 32 chassis. Figure 3. Fasteners to remove from the back lip of the top panel On the back of the chassis, loosen the 4 captive screws per panel (8x total) that secure the left and right access port covers to the back of the Stage 32 chassis, then set the covers aside.
  • Page 3 Removing the AVB Assembly After removing the top panel, disconnect cables and remove the old AVB assembly. To remove the AVB Assembly: Disconnect the red and black cable from the AVB card. Pinch the tab on the connector and carefully pull it out of its port. Figure 6.
  • Page 4 Installing the AVB Assembly To install an AVB assembly into Stage 32: If you have not already done so, unpack the new AVB assembly from its packaging. Being sure to orient the assembly correctly, carefully slide the new AVB assembly into its slot on the Stage 32 front panel. Make sure the new assembly does not catch or bend any internal cables or other components.
  • Page 5 Reassemble the Stage 32 To reassemble the Stage 32: Take the top panel and orient it correctly, front-to-back, with the chassis. On the top panel, the edge with the flange installs at the back of the Stage 32 chassis. Carefully guide the back edge of the top panel into its slots on the back of the Stage 32 chassis, angling the panel as necessary until the flange seats fully into place ( see Figure 5 Lower the top panel down into position, making sure it seats fully.
  • Page 6 Confirming Installation To confirm installation: Connect the power cables to the Stage unit and to a power source. Connect the Stage unit to the rest of your S6L system using Ethernet or fiber. Power on your S6L system (engine, control surface, then Stage unit). Enable Config mode.
