If a defect in the hard- ware, or any component thereof, occurs Garage Smart will repair or replace the sys- tem, or the defective component. There is no cost to you beyond the cost of shipping the defective item to us.

    About Garage Smart Hard Top Lifter The Garage Smart Hard Top Lifter is designed for home and garage use. It is not to be ® used in commercial or industrial applications. The Hard Top Lifter uses Bluetooth technology combined with the MyLifter app to lift vehicle hard tops off your vehicle to be stored on the garage ceiling.

    Installation Overview Installing the Hard Top Lifter kit is easy and involves the following basic steps: Assemble the Hard Top Lifter frame. Install the Smart Track System. Install the MyLifter Units. Attach the MyLifter Cables to the Hard Top Lifter Frame.

  • Page 10: Part I: Assemble The Hard Top Lifter Frame

    Part I: Assemble the Hard Top Lifter Frame Assemble the Hard Top Lifter frame on the garage floor in the area where you want to lift your vehicle's hard top. To begin, put together the two identical Length Adjuster Assemblies using parts A and B.
  • Page 11 For a 2-door JK hard top, extend the length of the assembly so that 14 holes of part A are exposed from part B. NOTICE Other hard top models will need custom installation. 2. Insert two Short Quick Release Pins (G) into the first and last overlapping holes. Where part A extends out of part B will become the rear of the lifting frame.

  • Page 16 For a 4-Door JK hard top, the back of your Pulley Frame should be positioned 12 holes from the Rear Support Adjuster. For a 2-Door JK hard top, the back of your Pulley Frame should be positioned 8 holes from the Rear Support Adjuster. NOTICE Other hard top models will need custom installation.

    Part II: Install the Smart Track Sys- 1. Place the fully assembled Hard Top Lifter Frame on the garage floor below the area where you want to store it on the ceiling. 2. Measure the distance from the back and side walls to the rear of the Pulley Frame that is closest to the back and side walls.
  • Page 18 4. With your garage door raised, measure from this mark to the top of your garage door. We recommend that this measurement from the mark to the garage door be at least five feet so the top of your garage door and the hard top don't bump into each other when raised.
  • Page 19 This square should mirror the distance from each pulley on the Pulley Frames, and will be used as your guide when you install the Smart Tracks. 7. Determine which way you need to orient your Smart Tracks. There are two dif- ferent ways to orient your Smart Tracks.

If your ceiling studs run perpendicular to the garage door, your Smart Track pieces should be installed parallel to the garage door, with your two MyLifters on the same track. 8. Use a stud finder to find the two studs that are nearest to your marks on the ceil- ing.
  • Page 21 9. Make two marks on the center of each stud in line with your previous four marks, making a total of eight marks. 10. Use the stud finder to find the center of the studs. a. Mark the left edge of the stud. b.
  • Page 22 11. Double check your center marks on the ceiling with your Smart Track pieces. Each Smart Track should cover four of the marks. The center stud marks should be visible through the track's holes. 12. Double check that each set of marks are 15 inches apart. 13.
  • Page 23 15. Position the other end of the Smart Track over the pilot hole you drilled for the opposite end of the Smart Track, and screw in another lag screw and washer all the way. Be sure to tighten both lag screws so the Smart Track is flush and secure against the ceiling.

    Each carabiner should be 15 inches from the MyLifter cable and each should align with one of the pulley marks.     There should be four open holes between the carabiners and the carabiners should align with the pulley marks. Installing the power adapter 1. Plug one end of the DC cable into a lifter. 2. Install the power adapters anywhere on the Smart Track. NOTICE The universal mounting bracket attached to the bottom of the power adapters lets you easily slide and snap them into place in any open area on the track.

    Part IV: Attach the MyLifter Cables to the Hard Top Lifter Frame You need to lower the cables from the two MyLifter units in order to thread the cables through the pulleys on the lifting frame. To lower the cables, you need to install the MyLifter app and pair it to your MyLifter units.

    For example, you need to create a Locked Group for the lifters attached to your Hard Top Lifter Frame because the lifters are raising and lower- ing a single item that you need to stay balanced on the way up or down.

    9. Tap Set to set the smart high point and to close the dialog box. Attach the Hard Top Lifter Frame to your hard top 1. Back your vehicle into the garage under the raised Hard Top Lifter Frame. 2. Make sure all electrical and physical connections between your hard top and your vehicle are disconnected according to your manufacturer's instructions.

    Attach the cargo net 1. Orient your cargo net so the nylon webbing faces down, the short straps face the rear, and the long adjustable straps face the front. 2. Connect the rear straps to the Rear Support Adjuster. 3. Thread the cargo net over the roll bar. The cargo net must go over the side roll bars as well.

    Pair Your MyLifter With The App The MyLifter App is available from Google Play or the App Store. 1. Download the MyLifter app from the App Store or Google Play. 2. Open the app and tap Add Devices in the bottom right corner to open the Avail- able Lifters screen.

    Edit and Rename a Paired MyLifter 1. Tap in the upper left-hand corner to go to the Home screen. 2. On the Home screen, tap Edit in the upper right-hand corner of the screen. The button name changes from Edit to Exit and the app enters Edit Mode. In Edit Mode you can rename the lifters or delete them if you need to.

    Raising and Lowering Items The Device Control screen lets you raise and lower items manually by tapping the up and down arrow buttons. To open the Device Control screen, tap the name of a lifter on the Home screen. The Device Control screen lets you control only the lifter you have selected.

    The Locked Group ensures that all lifters in the group lift and lower items at the same time and at the same speed. For example, the Garage Smart Universal XL HD Lifter requires two MyLifter units to lift large and oddly-shaped items. In order to keep the load balanced as the item is lifted, the two MyLifter units need to be locked together so they can work together as one.
  • Page 40 The Device Control screen opens with one of the lifters from the group selected (indicated by a rectangle around the lifter's name). At this point, you can control each lifter individually so you can raise or lower their cables to set a reference point for the group.
