6. Safety advice
- Always test prior to use.
- Avoid impacts with the meter (needle is fragile).
- Make sure the needle is on 0 when the device is not working.
- Make sure the device is always fitted with a filter.
- Attention: the length of the tubing may influence the suction performance
7. Cleaning and disinfection
In normal conditions of use, the RVTM3 does not need any disinfection since the safety jar is protected by the filter upfront. Change the
filter after each patient. (See below for specific conditions).
Suction controller
Use soapy water for the outside of the device. Rinse thoroughly and dry. Do not immerse.
Caution:
- When using decontaminant products, make sure they are compatible with plastic (see technical data).
- Do not use surface decontaminants.
Safety jar
Since the safety jar is protected by an upfront filter, there is no need to sterilize it: the filter just needs to be replaced after each
patient or for a long stay patient, when necessary, after inspection of the filter clogging level. However, in case of accidental
liquid overflow or perforated filter, the safety jar must be disinfected or sterilized as follows:
1. Remove the safety jar and disassemble the cover from the jar.
2. Immerse safety jar parts in a pre-disinfecting solution (respecting manufacturers' protocols concerning soaking, rinsing and
drying time).
3. Clean, rinse thoroughly, soak for 1 minute in clean water and dry.
4. Sterilize or disinfect, respecting manufacturers' protocol.
5. Reassemble each part and screw the safety jar back onto the suction controller.
RVTM3 safety jar withstands autoclave up to 134°C.
8. Transport and storage
- To prevent damage to gauge needle, devices should travel in a horizontal position.
- Storage between -10 to +40°C in a dry and clean place.
- Preserve the device packaging and instructions for use as long as possible.
9. Maintenance
Check every 1 to 3 years depending on use:
- Inspect display (vacuum gauge).
- Inspect functioning.
In case of damage or malfunction, ship the device back to the manufacturer or to a registered repairer.
- Once a year, lubricate the seals of the ON/OFF pushbutton with "High Vacuum Grease" silicon grease
To remove the pushbutton, pull the red area.
- Record every maintenance operation.
- To change the vacuum gauge, remove the 2 screws at the rear of the body.
