Leak Checking in the Field

Because of the ball valve's simplicity, the only maintenance procedure consists of checking the valve for leaks. If the
valve is leaking from its outlet port, rebuild or replace it. If minor leakage is detected only at the valve-stem packing,
remove the handle and increase the tightening torque on the locknut (item 13). If this fails to stop the leak, rebuild or
replace the ball valve.
WARNING: Do not exceed 150 ft-lbs of torque when tightening the locknut (item 13).
TIP: Use a 1-5/8" wrench to tighten the locknut (item 13).
