I f a disk driv e fails, t he Disk St at us LED becom es orange. I f t he disk driv e
belongs t o a RAI D Volum e, t he Volum e goes Crit ical or Offline, depending on
RAI D level. See
Replace t he failed disk driv e wit h a new disk driv e of t he sam e or slight ly
great er capacit y. You do not have t o power down t he unit . Refer t o
RA I D Vo l u m e t o rem ov e t he failed disk and replace it wit h a new one.

How t he unit responding t o a Crit ical RAI D Volum e depends on t he RAI D lev el
of y our Volum e:
For RA I D 1 , 5 , a n d 1 0 v olum es, y ou m ust replace t he failed disk driv e
wit h a new one. The RAI D Volum e will begin rebuilding it self when y ou
inst all t he new disk drive. See
RA I D 0 v olum es go offline aft er a disk driv e failure. A RA I D 0 Volum e
cannot be recov ery. All dat a of t he v olum e is lost .

When encount ering file sy st em error, y ou are unable t o k eep t he dat a
anym ore. I t 's likely due t o abnorm al usage and disk dam age. I n t his case, if
y ou want t o k eep recording, we suggest replacing new disk s, or t ry t he
following m et hods.
1. Form at t his v olum e, and check if t he st at us becom es f u n ct i o n a l . I f y es,
y ou can st art recording. I f it doesn 't , t ry t he second m et hod.
2. Delet e t his v olum e, and creat e v olum e again t o see if t he st at us is
f u n ct i o n a l .

I f y ou forget t he password, and want t o reset t he Adm inist rat or 's password t o
t he default password: a d m i n , follow t he following st eps.
1. Verify t hat t he sy st em is fully boot ed.
2. I nsert y our reset t ool int o t he reset but t on hole on t he back of t he device.
