FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

There are category labels ("bass", "lead", "pad") above the keys. How do I use them?
Hold down [PROGRAMS] and press a key. Turn the DATA DIAL to hear other programs in the
category.
There are Program parameter labels ("voice", "osc", "filter") above the keys. How do I use them?
Hold down [PROGRAMS] and press a key. Turn the DATA DIAL to see other parameters in the
group.
How do I add a Program to the "faves" category?
1.
Find the Program that you want to add, and push the DATA DIAL.
2.
The display will say, "Add to faves?" Push the DATA DIAL again to do so.
How do I assign a Program parameter to one of the knobs?
1.
Find the parameter that you want to assign, either by pressing [PROGRAMS] and pushing the
DATA DIAL, or as described in the previous question.
2.
Hold down the DATA DIAL, and wiggle the (X/Y/Z) knob that you want to assign it to.
How do I record a new Sequence?
1.
Press [SEQUENCES], and scroll all the way to the left, to "* Empty Sequence".
2.
Push the DATA DIAL, scroll all the way to the right, and choose "Store a copy?"
3.
Scroll left, to "Record Sequence?" You will hear the metronome start to click.
4.
Jam!

Be sure to press the [STORE] button at some point to store your new Sequence.
You can change the Program that your Sequence uses by scrolling to "Sequence program", or holding
[PROGRAMS] and pressing [SEQUENCES]. You will probably also want to give your Sequence a
name at some point.
I was recording a Sequence and made a mistake. How do I clear the Sequence and start over?
Scroll to "Clear Sequence?" and press the DATA DIAL. Alternately, you can hold [SEQUENCES] and
press the highest key on the keyboard to jump right there.
How do I split and layer the keyboard?
You need to create a Multi. MINIAK was designed to make splitting and layering as easy as possible.
Follow this procedure:
1.
Press [PROGRAMS], and find a Program that you like.
2.
Push the DATA DIAL, turn to "Start new Multi?" and push again.
3.
Press [PROGRAMS], and find another Program that you like.
4.
Push the DATA DIAL, turn to "Send to Multi?" and push again.
5.
Depending on what you want to do, turn to "Layer part A?", "Split A low?", or "Split A high?",
and push again.
6.
If you chose to split, you will be asked to select a split point.
7.
Continue sending Programs to the Multi until you've created all the splits and layers you want.
How do I change the Program in a Multi Part?
There are three ways of doing this. Use whichever suits your taste:
In Multi Mode, push the DATA DIAL, turn to "Part x program", and set it to the Program you
want.
Press [PROGRAMS] and find the Program you want. Push the DATA DIAL, choose "Send to
Multi?", and choose "Send to part x?".
Press [PROGRAMS] and find the Program you want. Hold down [PROGRAMS] and press
[MULTI]. This sends the Program to the most recently viewed part.
All three of these methods work for Sequences and Rhythms as well.
How can I quickly see which Programs are in which Multi Parts?
Hold down [MULTI] and press keys, starting with the A above middle C (labeled "voice"). Pressing the
A key will show you Part A, the B key will show Part B, and so on. To browse through Beats, go an
octave higher. The highest A will show Beat A, and so on.
