New to soldering? Follow the guides on arrow.com or
learn.adafruit.com to start forming perfect solder
joints every time. As a refresher:
Clean the board

with isopropyl
alcohol to remove
dust and oils from
handling.

Hold the PCB
steady using a vise
or clamps.
Once the solder

has flowed all the
way around the
lead, remove the
solder from the
joint.
Repeat for all components, then carefully clip the
excess wire leads with your diagonal flush cutters.

Heat your

soldering iron to

about 700
That's about ¾ to
the max on your
adjustable iron.
Using the area just

above the very tip
of your iron, heat
both the lead and
copper pad.
Remove the iron

from the joint and
allow the new
solder joint to cool
for several
seconds.

Place your
components and
bend the leads
slightly to keep
them in place.
Apply solder to the
heated joint,
pressing gently as
the solder melts.
Admire the perfect
"Hershey's Kiss"
appearance of the
perfect solder
joint.
