Installing Adaptec Storage Manager - Adaptec iSA1500 Quick Install Manual

Installing Microsoft DiskPart (Windows only)
Microsoft DiskPart must be installed on every Windows server that
will have access to storage on the Adaptec iSA1500 subsystem and
will be managed by Adaptec Storage Manager.
Download DiskPart from the Microsoft Web site at
www.microsoft.com
installation.

Installing Adaptec Storage Manager

You must install Adaptec Storage Manager on all Windows
systems that will be connected to the Adaptec iSA1500. (To manage
your IPSAN using Adaptec Storage Manager, you must have a
dedicated management station or server running Windows 2000 or
Windows 2003, with Adaptec Storage Manager installed.)
1 Insert the Adaptec iSA1500 CD into the CD-ROM drive of your
management system.
The setup program opens automatically and the Welcome screen
appears. (If the setup program does not open, double-click the
Setup.exe icon on the CD to begin setup and installation.
2 Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the installation.
Installation types:
iSCSI Station—Use for any server that will have access to

storage on the Adaptec iSA1500 and be managed by
Adaptec Storage Manager.
Management Station—Use for any server that will be used
■
to manage the Adaptec iSA1500 and the servers that access
storage. (This installation type allows no storage access.)
iSCSI and Management Station—Use for any server that
■
will access storage on the Adaptec iSA1500 and be used to
manage the Adaptec iSA1500 and the servers that access
storage.
Custom—Use if you want to customize the installation and
■
have control over which specific components are installed.
(Adaptec recommends that only advanced users choose to
customize the software installation.)
