Maintenance

To a large extent, the 7UM85 is self-monitored. Routine tests can check the interfaces between the devices
and the wires. These interfaces cannot be monitored completely by the devices.
Tests can be performed according to the SIPROTEC 5 Operating Manual.
During test and maintenance, remember to observe the associated warnings in the related manuals.
If the 7UM85 is used to protect security-relevant equipment, the following items must be executed:
To achieve the required safety level, the checks must be repeated periodically every year.
Function check of the battery supervision must be performed at least once per year.
If deviations from the correct functions are detected during tests, send the device back to the manufac-
turer.
NOTE

i
Before you start a test or a check, interrupt the control circuits to switch off devices, if applicable. This oper-
ation can avoid the unintended switching operation in the plant.
NOTE

i
Considering the high safety requirements of the application area, omit hardware modifications generally. If
the hardware modifications are needed, send the device back to the manufacturer.
The exchange of the fuse in the power-supply unit is treated as a repair action. If needed, the fuse can only
be exchanged in the factory of the manufacturer.
