5.0 ELECTICAL INSTALLATION

WARNING: IMPORTANT INFORMATION
Danger! Disconnect all voltage before inspecting or servicing the equipment.
Only properly trained, qualified technicians should operate or service the
equipment.
All national and local electrical, building, and safety codes need to be followed. Proper
grounding of all equipment is important. Check the electrical wiring schematic for wiring
numbers and details.
Pre-punched holes have been provided to accept an appropriate strain relief for field
wiring.
5.1 Wiring for MCS-405A – 115Volt AC
Dangerous Voltage! Do not put your finger or any object in the program
module/card slot. If the power supply is not connected properly, the plug
for the module/card may carry voltage. The module/card or cover must be
in place at all times. NOTE: the module/card accessory is optional and is
not needed for normal operation.
1. Mount the MCS-405A control box in a secure location.
2. Refer to drawings MCS-405A-12D1-5.
3. Loosen clamp screws allowing the door to be opened.
4. Open the hinged door.
Note: Wire number 2 is the neutral wire.
5. Motor Starter. Connect wire (wire number 27 in drawing) from the normally
closed contact of overload for the vacuum power unit to the output terminal Q7
on the PLC (Typical Novatec motor starters are shown on drawing SK-836A).
Connect the motor starter coil to terminal number 2 on the terminal block (wire
number 2 in drawing).
6. VBV (vacuum breaker valve). Connect wire (wire number 26 in drawing) from
the VBV solenoid to the output terminal Q6 on the PLC. Connect the VBV
solenoid to terminal number 2 on the terminal block (wire number 2 in
drawing).
7. Level switch. Connect wire (wire number 11,12,13,14,15 in drawing) from the
ON/OFF switch to the level switch (green screw of twist-lock plug) on the
respective station. Connect the level switch (copper screw of twist-lock plug) to
terminal number 3 on the terminal block (wire number 3 in drawing). If using
photoelectric switch, connect wire (wire number 2 in drawing) from terminal 2
on the terminal block to silver screw on twist-lock plug.
Note: If using a capacitance type proximity switch, install resistor kit part
number 10467, as shown on drawing.
