Replacing the Filter of the
Fuel/Water Separator
Service Interval: Every 500 hours—Replace the filter
of the fuel/water separator.
Removing the Filter Element
1.
Clean the area around the fuel-filter head
(Figure
69).

Rotate the fuel shutoff valve for the fuel/water
separator to the
CLOSED

Place a drain pan under the fuel-filter bowl,
remove the bowl nut, and remove the filter bowl
from the filter head

You will remove the spring and the float
when you remove the filter bowl.

4.
Drain the filter bowl of fuel and clean the
filter-head-mounting surface.
Installing the Filter Element
1.
Lubricate the O-ring with clean fuel.
2.
Assemble the filter element onto the filter head;
refer to
Figure 71
(page
55).
3.
Assemble the spring and float into the fuel-filter
bowl; refer to

4.
Assemble the filter bowl and bowl nut onto the
filter head and tighten the nut by hand; refer to
Figure 71
55).
5.
Open the fuel shutoff valve and if needed prime
the fuel system; refer to
(page
53).
6.
Check the fuel/water separator for leaks.
Note:
Repair all fuel leaks before operating the
machine.
