Identifying faults on the hoist motor/lifting column
Symptoms
No sound from the motor
or movement in the piston-
rod
Motor runs but spindle
does not move
drive unit cannot lift a full
load
Sound from the motor
but no movement in the
piston-rod
Piston-rod travels inwards
but not outwards
Mains light is not showing
Mains light is showing but drive
unit does not run
Hoist motor does not run on
battery power, though the relay
can be heard clicking
Control unit functions but only
in one direction on one channel
Possible causes
the hoist motor is not
connected to the power
supply
the fuse in the control unit
is faulty
the cable is damaged
gear or spindle damaged
voltage drop in cable
motor damaged
safety nut has deployed
not connected to mains
fuse is defective
defective power cable
control unit defective
hoist motor plugs not correctly
connected to the control unit
hoist motor plugs not correctly
connected to the control unit
