    SAFETY AND REGULATORY NOTICES General Do not open the computer. There are no user servicable parts. Electrical The computer uses a safety ground and must be earthed. The system unit AC power cord is its ‘disconnect device’. Ensure that the system unit is positioned close to the AC power outlet and that the plug is easily accessible.

    Anti-static precautions WARNING Static electricity can cause permanent damage to electronic components. You should be aware of this risk, and take precautions against the discharge of static electricity into the computer. The computer is at risk from static discharge while the top cover is off. This is because the electronic components of the motherboard are exposed.

    Maintenance WARNING Do not attempt to open the computer. Access to the computer is designed for authorised engineers only. There are no user servicable parts within the computer. Switch off and disconnect all cables before attempting to clean the computer. Do not use sprays, solvents or abrasives that might damage the system unit surface.

It is important that you take each step in the order indicated.     Turn on video monitor and computer Make sure all external devices, such as keyboard, mouse, and monitor, are connected. Turn on the video monitor. Plug the female end of the computer's power cord into the AC power-in connector on the back panel of the computer, plug the male end of the power cord into the grounded wall outlet, then switch on the AC supply.

    Antistatische Vorsichtsmaßnahmen WARNUNG Statische Eektrizität kann an elektronischen Bauteilen dauerhaften Schaden verursachen. Sie sollten sich dieser Gefahr bewußt sein und dementsprechend Vorsichtsmaßnahmen gegen die Entladung statischer Elektrizität in den Rechner treffen. Der Rechner ist der Gefahr statischer Entladung ausgesetzt, wenn der Gehäusedeckel abgenommen wird, da die elektronischen Komponenten der Hauptplatine dann freigelegt sind.

    Monitor und Rechner einschalten Sorgen Sie dafür, daß alle externen Geräte, wie Tastatur, Maus und Monitor angeschlossen sind. Schalten Sie den Monitor ein. Stecken Sie die Buchse des Netzkabels des Rechners in den Netzstrom-EIN- Stecker an der Rückwand des Rechners. Stecken Sie den Steker des Netzkabels in die geerdete Wandsteckdose, und schalten Sie anschließend die Netzstromversorgung ein.

    Selbsttest beim Einschalten Jedesmal, wenn Sie den Rechner einschalten, leuchtet das Stromlämpchen am Bedienfeld auf und der Selbsttest beim Einschalten (SBE) beginnt und prüft Hauptplatine, Maus, Tastatur des Rechners sowie die meisten installierten Peripheriegeräte. Der SBE zeigt an, wieviel Speicher dem Rechner zur Verfügung steht und führt einen Speichertest durch.
