j) REL Function

The REL function allows a reference value measurement to avoid possible line losses which may caused e.g. during
resistance measurements. The "REL" function is also perfectly suited for reference measuring and displaying compo-
nent deviations. For this purpose, the current indicated value is set to zero. A new reference value is set.
- Press the "REL" button to activate this measuring function. "REL" appears on the display. The automatic measuring
range selection is deactivated now.
- Another press switches the difference display which is deducted from the current measuring value. Now the symbol
"REL" blinks on the display. Each renewed press switches between the two displays.
- To turn this function off, keep the button "REL" depressed for 1 second or change the measuring function.

k) Auto power OFF function

The DMM turns off automatically after 15 minutes with several beeps if no button or switch is operated. This function
saves battery power and extends the service life.
To reactivate the DMM after automatic cut-off, move the rotary switch or press any function key (except for the diode
button (4) and the light button (10)).
You can turn the auto power-off function manually.
To do so, turn the measuring device off (OFF). Keep the button "RANGE" (2) depressed and turn the DMM on at the
rotary switch. The clock symbol on the display disappears. This function remains inactive until the measuring device
is turned off via the rotary switch.

l) Turning the display illumination on and off

The display can be illuminated when measuring in the dark. Press the light button (10) to switch it on or off. The il-
lumination turns off automatically after approx. 1 minutes.
Switch the illumination off in due time to save battery power.

10. Cleaning and maintenance

a) General

To ensure the accuracy of the multimeter over an extended period of time, it should be calibrated once a year.
Apart from occasional cleaning and battery replacements, the multimeter requires no servicing.
The battery change is described below.
Regularly check the technical safety of the instrument and measuring cables, e.g. check for dam-
age to the housing or squeezing etc.
