• You cannot select a positon number where "---" appears next to the
number. This is because SKIP is set to "ON" for this position number.
• When a weak signal is received in Channel Reprogramming mode, you can
change the background to static blue by pressing CLEAR/C-RESET. If
you press the button again, the background will return to the static screen.

Hint
• When a tape without erase-protection tab is inserted, the VCR/DVD will start playback automatically.
• Tracking adjustment will be activated automatically (Digital Tracking function) when you start playback.
• When playing pre-recorded tapes or tapes recorded on units other than your own, noise lines (black and white streaks) may appear on the
playback picture. If this occurs, you can adjust the tracking control manually by pressing CH K / L until the streaks disappear. To return to the
DTR function, stop the tape once and start playback again.
<If a tape is already in the VCR/DVD...>
• Using the buttons on the VCR/DVD
Just press PLAY B on the VCR/DVD. Power will automatically turn on and playback will start (Direct Button Operation).
• Using the buttons on the remote control
Press OPERATE to turn on, and then press PLAY B.
To Cue or Review Picture during Playback (Speed Search)
Press FWD g or REV h.
• Press it again and the VCR/DVD will search in super high speed.
• Super high speed is not available for an NTSC tape.
• The sound will be muted during Speed Search.
To Freeze the Picture on TV Screen during Playback
(Still Picture)
Press STILL/PAUSE F. Each time you press the button, the picture will
be forwarded by one frame.
• If the picture begins to vibrate vertically during the still mode, stabi-
lise the picture by pressing CH K / L.
• If the picture is distorted or rolling vertically, adjust the vertical hold
control on your TV, if equipped.
Hint for "Speed Search" and "Still Picture"
• Usually there will be video "noise" lines (black and white streaks or
dots) on the screen. This is normal. The still picture will, in addition
to containing the "noise" lines, be black and white. This is not a fault
of the machine but merely a by-product of the technology involved
in producing a VCR with LP mode.

Counter Reset
Press CLEAR/C-RESET.
To Play Back in Slow Motion
Press SLOW
• You can control the speed by pressing FWD g(faster) or
REV h(slower). Press PLAY B to return to normal playback.
• If the noise bars appear on the TV screen, you can reduce it by
pressing CH K / L.
Auto Rewind
When a tape reaches its end during playback, fast forward, or record-
ing (except Timer Recording and One Touch Recording), the tape will
automatically rewind to the beginning. After rewinding finishes, the
VCR/DVD will eject the tape.
Hint
• Still/Slow/Pause mode will be automatically cancelled after 5 minutes to pre-
vent damage to the tape and the video head.
• To return to playback from the Speed Search/Still/Slow mode, press PLAY B.
