the server. Alternately the instrument's server setup can use the WAN IP address of the router
that the server is connected to. That is a less optimal solution because that WAN IP address is
often subject to change by the internet provider, and when it changes the instrument won't be
able to connect to the server anymore.

8.7.5 Email Setup

Email alarms can be setup by pressing the Set email button.

Email alarms require the following conditions:
The WiFi™ setup must have already been done so the instrument can connect to a router or
access point. However a connection schedule does not need to be in effect for the emails to
work.
That router or access point must be connected to the internet.
The user must have an email account to use for outgoing email. A good solution is to use a
gmail account.
The email setup is not always easy.
The complete email setup is similar to the configuration of any email application. It includes the
following:
Email server
smtp.gmail.com
Port number

For gmail this is port 587 or 465.
