Operation

The ambient temperature must be around
20°C/68°F during the measurement.
i
For a precise measurement to be obtained,
careful calibration is required.
Measuring the urea content:
1. Lift up the light incidence plate.
2. Clean the prism with a clean cloth.
3. Place 2-3 drops of AdBlue on the prism using
the pipette provided.
4. Close the light incidence plate.
 AdBlue spreads across the entire surface
of the prism without air bubbles and dry
patches.
5. Wait 30 seconds.
 The temperature of the AdBlue adapts to
the ambient temperature of the handheld
refractometer.
6. Hold the light incidence plate up to a light
source and look into the eyepiece.
 The urea content is indicated by the light
area on the scale in the eyepiece (item 4,
Fig. 1).

The reference value of the urea con-
tent of AdBlue is around 32.5%. The

characteristic line (item 1, Fig. 2) on the scale
in the handheld refractometer indicates the
reference value.

The permissible deviation of 32.5% urea cont-
ent in AdBlue depends on the manufacturer.
7. Observe the manufacturer's specifications
for the change frequency of AdBlue and urea
content in AdBlue.

If the measured urea content deviates from
the manufacturer's specifications, the tested
AdBlue must no longer be used.
