SECTION 2

This section describes the unpacking, inspection, set-up and installation of the Model 7064

development module in a C-size mainframe.

The following parts constitute the 7064 Module P/N 70-0010-000:

1. B e f o r e unpacking the 7064 module, check the exterior of the shipping

carton for any damage. If the shipping carton is damaged, inform the

carrier immediately.

2. R e m o v e the 7064 module quid inspect it for damage. If any damage is

apparent, inform the carrier immediately. Retain shipping carton and

packing material for the carrier's inspection.

3. V e r i f y that the pieces contained in the package you received match the

parts list shown above. N o t i f y Racal Instruments i f the module

appears damaged in any way. D o not attempt to install a damaged

module into a VXI chassis.

4. T h e 7064 module is shipped i n an anti-static bag t o prevent

electrostatic damage to the module. Do not remove the module from

the anti-static bag unless it is in a static-controlled area.

The 7064 has an internal 8-position address switch used to determine dynamic configuration

or static configuration. It is located on the top of the module accessible through the case. A n y

setting other than 255 indicates static configuration.

Dynamic configuration is an optional alternative method o f assigning logical address to

VXlbus devices, and is defined in detail in Section F of the VXlbus System Specification

Revision 1.4. I n the ON position, the switch is set to logical 1, and in the OFF position to a

logical 0.

The user can select any logical address from I to 254 for static configuration.
