Quick Download Procedure

Make sure your PC
COM port is
correctly set up to
communicate with
the 4934A
1. Switch off the 4934A and connect the unit to the PC from which you will down¬
load the software.
• For a direct connection, use a straight-through RS-232 serial cable to connect the
4934A's serial port to a COM port on the PC.
• For a dial-up connection (using modems), use a null-modem cable or adapter to
connect the 4934A's serial port to the modem. Set up the far-end PC and modem
as appropriate for your system.
2. Switch on the 4934A and promptly press the START RESET key during the star¬
tup routine (while the serial number is being displayed).
When the unit is in Download mode, the left display shows + dl and the right dis¬
play shows the installed software revision.
3. Use the RCV key to set the 4934A's baud rate for the download procedure. Each
time you press RCV, the right display shows the currently selected baud rate.
The baud rate for software download can be set to 1200,2400, 9600, 19200, or
38400 (defaults to 9600 at power up).
4. At the PC, insert the distribution diskette into the A: or B: floppy drive.
5. From a DOS prompt, select the drive by typing A: (or B:) and then press return.
6. Next type DOWNLOAD and then press return.
7. Press a key to begin the download, or press Esc to cancel.
N OT E
If you interrupt the download program, the 4934A will be inoperable until a
successful download is performed.
8. When the download is complete, the 4934 reboots. The software revision is dis¬
played on the right display at start up.
