In the downstream direction, the MA5606T provides a high speed Internet access for subscribers in remote areas. In the upstream direction, it connects to a BRAS on the convergence layer through its GE or FE optical port.

It allows multiple tiers of DSLAMs in a subtending topology through the GE/FE ports. This helps to greatly expand the network coverage.
