6.2 Operation

The regulator is ready for use when mount-
ing and start-up have been completed.
WARNING
!
Risk of burn injuries due to hot components
and pipelines.
Valve components and pipelines may get
very hot and cause burn injuries.
Wear protective clothing and safety gloves.

6.3 Starting up the plant

Î See Fig. 3
Î First start up the regulator after mounting
all parts.
Î Make sure that the restriction (8.5) is
open while filling the plant. To do so,
de-energize the electric actuator (10)
and turn the handwheel on the actuator
counterclockwise () as far as it will go.
Note
The restriction in electric actuators with fail-
safe action is automatically closed when the
supply voltage is disconnected.
Î When an electric actuator with fail-safe
action is mounted, open the restriction
manually or electrically.

Note
Refer to the mounting and operating instruc-
tions of the electric actuator for more details.
See information under 'Referenced docu-
mentation' on page 7.
Î Open the shut-off valves slowly over a
time period of several minutes, prefera-
bly starting from the return flow pipe.
Î Adjust the set point (see section 6.4).
NOTICE
!
Risk of valve damage due to a sudden pres-
sure increase and resulting high flow veloci-
ties.
Slowly open the shut-off valve in the pipeline
during start-up.
Note
To open the restriction, de-energize electric
actuators with fail-safe action and remove
them from the valve.
