Where should Flood Detectors be Located?

Flood detectors should be located on the floor below the bath, wash basin, or kitchen sink or anywhere a tap could be left
running. It should be fixed to the skirting board with the screw or self-adhesive pad provided.

Tools Required

A Pozi screwdriver will be needed if the flood detector is being screw-fixed to the skirting board.

Testing and Registering the Flood Detector

Place a damp cloth across the 2 brass studs to activate.
The flood detector must be activated when registering
onto the warden call, at-home alarm or Nursecall system.
See the following pages for how to put each of these
products into registration mode.
The range of all radio devices can be affected by the working environment - always take care during installation and
perform several test calls.

Installation

It is easier to test and learn the flood detector before fixing – see above.
When fixing; always ensure the 2 brass studs are touching the floor.
Select the best location, then fix to the skirting board with the single screw through
the hole in the right angle bracket.
If using the self-adhesive pad; select a location where the skirting board is clean and dry.
Stick the adhesive pad to the rear of right angle bracket then press the detector firmly
to the skirting board ensuring it is stuck securely.

Flood Alarms

If the flood detector signals an alarm remove it from the affected area until the carpet/flooring is thoroughly dried. Dry the flood
detector to prevent corrosion of the brass studs. Note: if the flood detector is frequently activated by water on the floor then it
may be necessary to relocate the device away from the cause of the alarm.

Battery Life

The flood detector battery is checked once a day, if the voltage falls and stays below a preset level for 7 consecutive days a low
battery alert is automatically transmitted. Once a low battery call is received the flood detector should be replaced within 7 days.
Flood detectors must be returned to Tynetec/Aidcall for battery replacement.
Detailed information on battery management for all Tynetec/Aidcall products is available - request Doc No. FM0630.
