APN
Access Point Name
The name of the access point that connects the gateway to the internet via
a mobile connection.
FTP
File Transfer Protocol
The communication protocol used to exchange files electronically over a
TCP/IP network.
GPRS
General Packet Radio Service
The standard for mobile telephony, derived from GSM, allowing a higher
data rate. Also known as 2.5G.
DL: max. 86 Kbps
UL: max. 43 Kbps
Global System for Mobile communications
GSM
A switched network for mobile phones.
HyperText Transfer Protocol
HTTP
The client-server communication protocol developed for the web.
IP
Internet Protocol
A messaging protocol used for addressing and transmitting TCP packets
over the network.
DIN rail
The standardized 35 mm metal rail used in Europe for industrial rack
inspection equipment
PSTN
Public Switched Telephone Network
The public switched telephone network.
TCP
Transmission Control Protocol
An internet connection protocol that provides the packet data segmentation
services that are transmitted over the network by the IP protocol. This
protocol provides a reliable data transfer service. See also IP.
TCP/IP
Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol
A set of network protocols that provide connectivity services between
computers with different hardware architectures and operating systems.
TCP/IP includes communication standards between computers and
conventions for network connectivity and routing.
CIS
Customer Information System
Digital information output from meters that continuously broadcasts the
managed contractual parameters, as well as the consumption measured by
the device.
NTP
Network Time Protocol
An NTP server provides time synchronization of devices.
IS
Information System
A server that exchanges data with a concentrator (configuration, data,
alarms, etc.).
