Step 25
Install Gambrel Truss
1. Select the truss that has a gusset applied to one side. Install this truss against the dormer
wall with the gusset facing the roof gable. The bottom tip of the truss will extend past the
truss plate. The truss should align with the gable end; refer to Step 26.

2. Screw these trusses together using 2-1/2" wood screws.
Screw through both sides of the trusses.

3. Cut a small OSB filler from
leftover OSB and install over
the end of the rafters. Install
OSB flush with the bottom of
the 2x4. Install fillers to the
other rafter tails.
4. Screw the truss to the dormer
wall with 2-1/2" wood screws.
5. From inside the loft, nail the OSB
sheathing to the truss with two rows
of 6d common nails.
