certified components.
Important note
The products described here were developed to perform safety-oriented func-
tions as part of an overall installation or machine. A complete safety-oriented
system generally features sensors, evaluation units, signaling units, and reliable
shutdown concepts. It is the responsibility of the manufacturer to ensure that a
system or machine is functioning properly as a whole. Siemens AG, its regional
offices, and associated companies (hereinafter referred to as "Siemens") cannot
guarantee all the properties of an entire plant, system or machine that has not
been designed by Siemens.
Nor can Siemens assume liability for recommendations that appear or are
implied in the following description. No new guarantee, warranty, or liability
claims beyond the scope of the Siemens general terms of supply are to be
derived or inferred from the following description.
Application
The 4DI/2DO expansion module is designed for use with the
SENTRON PACxxxx Power Monitoring Devices.
The 4DI/2DO expansion module integrates SENTRON PACxxxx Power Monitor-
ing Devices into power distribution systems, manufacturing equipment and pro-
cess systems via digital outputs and digital inputs.
Furthermore these systems can be connected via digital signals to the
SENTRON power management system.
Required tools for installation
See Figures 2 and 4. To connect cables with end ferrules to the screw terminals,
you also require a crimping tool in accordance with EN 60947-1.
Mounting and connecting
Mount the expansion module before starting up the SENTRON PAC. Observe
the ESD guidelines.
a) Always hold the expansion module by the plastic enclosure.
b) Ensure safe isolation from supply.
c) Discharge yourself.
d) Mount the Power Monitoring Device.
e) Connect the current terminals and voltage terminals to the
SENTRON PAC.
Mounting steps see Figure 3.
(1) Connect the expansion module to the SENTRON PAC with the aid of the
guide and the anti-twist element.
(2) Tighten the screws connecting the expansion module to the
SENTRON PAC with a torque of 0.5 Nm.
(3) Connect the cables to the screw terminals of the terminal block.
(See Figures 4 to 7)
(4) Ensure sufficient strain relief for all connected wiring.
