3. Remove the front panel. (See "Cleaning the front
panel" on page 14.)
4. Remove green ground wire from the base. Keep
ground screw to reattach ground wire after cleaning.
5. Remove the air conditioner from the cabinet. Watch
out for the sharp metal fins on the front and rear coils.
See Figure 9.
6. Wrap the fan motor (B), connector plug (C), electrical
control box (F), and compressor terminals (G), in
plastic film and make sure no water or other liquid gets
inside any of these parts. It could damage the insula-
tion and cause serious mechanical problems. See
Figures 10 and 11 for interior views.
7. Carefully clean and hose out the base (H), condenser
coil (A), evaporator coil (D), and condensate pan (E).
Clean at least once a year or more often if the con-
denser coil and pan collect dirt, sand, leaves, insects,
or algae. Also, clean if you detect an odor coming from
'the air conditioner.
8. Remove the plastic film from the motor and

Connect green ground wire to ground screw.
Failure to do so can result in death or
electrical shock.
9.
Replace the air conditioner in the cabinet, reattach
green ground wire and front panel.
10. Plug in the power cord.
NOTE: It is a good idea to wait 24 hours before starting
the air conditioner again. This allows time for all areas
to dry out.
