Control unit generated a fault

If a control unit generated a fault, the problem may be in the connectivity between one
of the control units (or subsystems) and the NK8000 .
Check network connections
CerCom/LON (CS6 Guarto only)

The LON networks are sensitive to improper termination. If it appears, that the LON
communication is not reliable, check the following points:
– Cabling, connectors
– Proper termination
– Physical LON addresses have to be unique in a LON-segment.
– Cable length / quality according to LON FT/TP-10 requirements
Note: Please refer to the Echelon Manual for detailed specification on how to set up a

Bulletins > Media & Wiring) Cable quality / length problems can be solved by using
LON repeaters.
RS232

Diagnostic information about the RS232 state can be obtained from the LEDs
placed on the front panel of NK82xx. Typical problems of RS232 communication
are:
– Mix of RXD / TXD lines.
– Line length exceeds the maximum of 15m.
– Disturbances, caused by ground loops.
– Solve problems of exceeding line length by using:
– RS232 line drivers
– Fibre optic converters
– RS422 converters

Control unit won't respond

When adding and configuring an NK8000 node, verify that you have the correct Local
address and Baud rate, and that the data link is up (blinking red and green). If you
have an incorrect Local address or Baud rate, you will no communication in run-time,
though no error message will be generated.
Note: The Local address must correspond with the one assigned to the subsystem
during the configuration in the NK8000 Composer tool.

CS6 Guarto generated a fault

When adding and configuring a CS6 node, verify that you have the correct Subnet,
Node, and Logical address. Ensure that the LON Physical address matches what is
physically on the rotary switches of the Guarto LON-adapter board K3I070.
