Remove retainer D from bracket C.

The spare wheel is heavy. If necessary,
request the assistance of a second person.

Remove spare wheel A.
Securing the spare wheel

Lay spare wheel A on spare wheel carrier

When doing so, make sure that spare wheel
A does not press against exhaust pipe
B.

Fold spare wheel carrier = upwards by
approximately 20 cm.
Spare wheel A on the spare wheel carrier
slides over bracket C.

Slide retainer D as far as it will go into
bracket C.
X
Fold up spare wheel carrier = to a position
it where can be slid under the vehicle.

Slide spare wheel carrier = as far as it will
go under the vehicle.

Screw in bolt ?.
X
For safety reasons, regularly check to
ensure that the spare wheel is securely fas-
tened.

After changing the wheel, you can secure
the faulty wheel on the spare wheel carrier.
Folding down the underride guard

Hold underride guard ;.

Remove bolt : (

Screw in all four bolts :.

Preparing the vehicle

Stop the vehicle as far away as possible
from traffic on solid, non-slippery and level
ground.

Switch on the hazard warning lamps

Apply the parking brake.

Bring the front wheels into the straight-
ahead position.

Move the selector lever to P.
X
Switch off the engine.
X
Remove the key from the ignition lock.
The steering wheel lock stays active for as
long as the key is removed.

All occupants must get out of the vehicle.
Make sure that they are not endangered as
they do so.

Make sure that no one is near the danger
area while a wheel is being changed. Any-
one who is not directly assisting in the
wheel change should, for example, stand
behind the barrier.

Get out of the vehicle. Pay attention to traf-
fic conditions when doing so.
