5. Instructions

Operation
Starting the engine
1. Take the brake off by pushing the lever back
(Fig. 13).
2. Set the ignition switch (A) (Fig. 16) to the
STOP (OFF, "0") position.
3. Pull out the choke lever (B) (Fig. 17) until it locks.
4. Place the saw on a firm, flat surface. Hold the
saw firmly as shown. Pull starter cord rapidly 4
times. Beware of the moving chain! (Fig. 19).
5. Push in the choke lever (B) as far as it will go
(Fig. 17).
6. Set the ignition switch (A) (Fig.16) to "On
(I)" to start machine
7. Hold saw firmly and pull starter rapidly up to 6
more times. Engine should start (Fig. 18).
8. Let the engine run for 10 seconds to warm up.
Press the throttle lever (D) briefly, the engine will

go to "idling"speed (Fig. 19). If engine failed to
start, repeat these instructions.
Important: Always pull the starter cable slowly
until you feel the initial resistance before you then
pull it quickly to start the engine. Do not allow the
starter cable to whip back of its own accord.
Restarting a warm engine
1. Make sure the switch is in the "On (1)" position.
2. Pull the starter rope rapidly 6 times. The
engine should start.
To stop engine
1. Release trigger and allow engine to return
to idle speed.
2. Move the ignition switch down to the STOP
(OFF, "0") position.
Note: To stop the engine in an emergency,
activate the chain brake and move the ignition
switch down to the STOP (OFF, "0") position.
