4.3. USING THE FIREPLACE The quality and dampness of the wood used are of utmost importance to making an optimal fi re (yield and heating power, window cleanliness). Quality wood: - Is dry wood that has been seasoned for at least two years in a ventilated storage area. - Use hardwood logs rather than resinous ones which tend to burn quickly and produce a lot of soot.

Fully open position: This enables easy fl ow of smoke. Each baffl e consists of a fi xed support on which two panels slide. When the two panels are brought back to the centre of the support, the passageway on the sides is opened up for smoke.
5. MAINTENANCE 5.1. ONGOING MAINTENANCE WINDOW To clean the window, begin by completely closing the door. Next, remove the hooks located on either side of the top of the door (1) and tilt the window (2). WARNING! - Do not clean the window when it is hot. - Spray a suitable cleaning product in the middle of the window then spread it with an absorbent cloth or paper towel.
5.2. YEARLY MAINTENANCE CHIMNEY SWEEPING Have the chimney cleaned at least once a year both to meet regulations and for safety. - Note the placement of the baffl es. - Take apart the baffl es as shown in paragraph 5. - Close the door and shut off the thermostat (if the chimney is swept from the roof).

4. REQUIRED AIR FLOWS In order to operate correctly, the fi replace needs air for three different purposes: for wood burning, to heat the room and to prevent overheating of the fi replace. In order for the air to circulate correct- ly and do its work, the air intakes and outlets must be large enough and suitably positioned.
When the fi replace burns wood using combustion air from the room, it uses up the room’s air. This air exits via the chimney (D). This must therefore be compensated for with the usual intakes (A and B). If these are not suffi cient, a new fresh air intake must be added (C).
AIR INTAKE Whether natural or forced, convection must be supplied by an air intake in the lower part of the fi tting. The minimum size is 400 cm2 (open passageway). 6. BRICKWORK AND DECORATIVE METAL When doing the brickwork, fi rst position the back bricks then the lateral bricks and, lastly, the fl oor bricks with the air distributors. To install the decorative metalwork (back and side walls only) assemble all of the metal rods to obtain the back length then place the assembly by sliding it under the support foot.
FAN KIT (optional) The kit consists of several parts and of the wiring needed to connect them: The fan pumps air between the combustion chamber and the cabinet to recover a maximum amount of heat to increase the yield and power of the fi replace. The speed controller is used to vary fan output as needed.
Place the fan in the right direction (it must blow toward the back of the fi replace) on the silent blocks provided for this purpose. - Carefully check the wiring path and make the electrical connections shown below.
