ADVICE ON HOW TO GET THE MOST OUT OF YOUR IF EASY

BEFORE LIGHTING THE STOVE

1. REMOVE ASHES and check whether the ashpan needs to be emptied.
2. CLEAN THE GLASS if necessary: clean glass gets dirty less quickly!
- If the glass is only slightly dirty, using paper towel and grade 00 or 000 steel wool will be
sufficient.
- If a cleaning product is used, it is essential that it doesn't drip onto the lower part of the
glass. That could cause irreparable damage to the screen.
3. FIRE CONTROL SELECTION
- Select the operating mode (manual or automatic).
- Fire management control: select a lower heat level (a higher heat level when the fire is lit
can have a negative impact on the cleanliness of the screen).
4. SELECT THE VENTILATION MODE
- Select the operating mode (manual or automatic).
- Set the ventilation control to the desired level.
- The ventilation will start only once the stove is hot, and will automatically cut out once it is
cold.
Please note: the indicator lights come on as soon as a control switch is touched, and go off
after a few seconds.

5. LIGHTING THE FIRE (upside-down fire-lighting technique)
- Place 1 log (or 2 depending on the size of the stove, so as to distribute the fuel over the
whole width of the stove), using the smallest logs.
- Place 1 or 2 firelighters on some kindling.
- Light the firelighter(s) surrounded by enough kindling, spread loosely enough to allow
aeration.
6. CLOSE THE STOVE DOOR
- Select the first notch of the door latch so that the door is ajar. This prevents build-up of
soot when the fire is lit.
- After 10 minutes, close the door fully.
7. HEATING UP THE IF EASY
Allow the first logs to burn down almost completely before reloading the insert.

8. RELOADING THE STOVE
- Do not reload until all the wood has burned down to embers.
- Open the door slowly.
Following these tips will stop smoke from escaping into the house.
