About this guide This guide explains how to use the basic features of your new Mitel 6970 IP Conference Phone. Not all features listed are available by default. Your System Administrator has the ability to customize many features on this phone.

In addition to the IP phone UI options, you can customize options on the IP phone using the Mitel Web UI. In order to access your phone using the Mitel Web UI, you need to know your phone’s IP address. To find your IP address, tap Settings > Status > Network. For more details, see “Status”...

Getting started Handling calls This sub-section describes ways to make and answer calls on the Mitel 6970 IP Conference Phone, as well as mute and transfer the call. You can handle calls both when you are logged-in and logged out.

Mitel 6970 IP Conference Phone User Guide Receiving calls When you have an ongoing call, you can use the phone’s keys and softkeys to perform various actions, such as muting the microphone, transferring calls or creating multi-party conference calls. When a call is ringing at your extension, the callers name, number, and avatar (if available) display on the Call screen.

(Mute) key on your phone, you cannot be heard by others on the call. Note: The extension microphones to your Mitel 6970 IP Conference Phone also have Mute buttons on them. Ensure you are on an active call with the party you wish to transfer (the transfer recipient should be placed on hold). 2. Swipe left and right to scroll and tap the party to whom you wish to transfer the active call.

When you transfer an active call, the near-end phone displays a Call Transferred screen when a call is transferred and the far-end call is dropped. The figure below illustrates the Call Transferred screen on the Mitel 6970 IP Conference phone.

To check the Meetings available in the system, do the following: 1. On the idle home screen, tap the Meetings softkey. The phone displays a list of meetings scheduled in the room where your Mitel 6970 IP Conference Phone is located.

Conference functionality. Local conferencing The Mitel 6970 IP Conference Phone supports up to three parties (including yourself) in a conference call. This is called local conferencing and is the default method of conferencing on the 6970.

Conference calls 3. Enter the phone number of Party 3. 4. Wait for Party 3 to answer. When Party 3 answers, you can consult with them before adding them to the conference. 5. Creating a conference call by joining two existing calls 1. Ensure you are on an active call with one of the parties with whom you wish to create a conference (the other party should be placed on hold).

Ending a conference and transferring remaining parties The Mitel 6970 IP Conference Phone allows a host to easily leave a three-way conference call without disrupting the connection of the other two remaining parties.

By default, there is only Local contact folder available. The other contact folders, such as Mobile, Corporate or other, must be configured by your System Administrator. The Mitel 6970 IP Conference Phone also supports a localized Personal contact folder.

In instances where a custom ring tone is selected as the individual contact ring tone for a Local Directory contact and subsequently the custom ring tone is deleted, the standard ring tone will be played.

Downloading the Local Directory to your PC through the Mitel Web UI You can download the Local Directory to your PC through the Mitel Web UI. The phone stores the directorylist.csv file to your PC in comma-separated value (CSV) format.

The Screen Saver Timer setting allows you to configure the amount of time (up to 7200 seconds) the phone must be idle before the screen saver starts.

1. On the back of the phone, locate the micro-USB input port. 2. Carefully insert the extension microphone cable into the micro-USB input port. CAUTION: Plugging any other than a Mitel extension microphone into the port may cause damage to the conference phone.
