TROUBLE SHOOTING

POWER UNIT
Problem
Power Loss or Sudden Stop
Engine runs but attachment
not rotating
Power Unit is smoking
Idle is lumpy or attachment
rotating without trigger
depressed
LINE TRIMMER
Problem
Line will not advance
Trimmer head is difficult to
rotate
Grass wrapping around
attachment shaft & head
assembly
PRUNER
Problem
Difficult to cut branches
Chain is smoking
Chain not rotating
Possible Cause
1. Fuel Tank Empty
2. Mixture not reaching
carburetor
3. Water in fuel mixture
4. The Air Filter is dirty
5. Carbon deposits in cylinder,
exhaust pipe or muffler
Possible clutch failure
Incorrect fuel/oil mixture
Fuel Mixture/Idle Screw is
incorrectly adjusted
Possible Cause
1. Line is welded to itself
2. Insufficient line on spool
3. Line has worn too short
4. Line is tangled in spool
Buildup of grass or grass wrapped
around head
Cutting tall grass at ground level
Possible Cause
Chain is blunt
Lack of lubrication
1. Chain too tight
2. Chain Sprocket faulty
Solution
1. Add Fuel
2. Drain & rinse mixture from fuel
system
3. Clean Fuel Filter
4. Clean Air Filter
5. Clean all affected parts or change
muffler
Take to authorised service/repair
dealer
Drain tank & use 25 parts unleaded
fuel to 1-part mineral oil (25:1). For
semi & synthetic oils, us manufacturer
ratios
Adjust the fuel mixture/idle screw
Solution
1. Lubricate with silicone spray
2. Add more line
3. Pull line alternately, pressing
down on and releasing the bump
knob
4. Remove line from the spool &
rewind
Clean head by removing grass
Cut tall grass in stages, from the top
down
Solution
Change cutting chain or arrange for
sharpening
1. Check that oil duct is clear
2. Top up the oil canister with chain
oil
1. Adjust chain tension
2. Replace Chain Sprocket
