Replacing Blades/RTMs

This section describes how to replace a blade or an RTM in the chassis. The blades/RTMs
are designed with ejector/injector latches on either side (refer to the figure below) to secure
the blades to the chassis' cage slots.

The blades are hot-swappable (i.e., they can be inserted and removed from a slot while the
device is under power). However, the following recommendations should be considered:
Simplex mode: Before replacing the blades, you need to gracefully lock the chassis
(i.e., no new calls are accepted and current calls are terminated after a user-defined
interval), and then power down the chassis.
HA mode (applicable only to Mediant 3000 HA):
Replacing a failed blade: Graceful Lock is unnecessary as all traffic has already
been automatically switched over to the redundant blade.
Replacing an active blade: If you wish to replace (for any reason) a blade that
has not yet entirely failed and is currently handling all the traffic, you must perform
a switchover to the redundant blade.
