Cruise C ontrol
A n y given speed above a range o f
approxim ately 16 — 40 k m /h /
10 — 25 mph, depending on
model, can be m aintained w ith the
cruise control by operating the
switch.
1 = Setting (touch sw itch)
Accelerating (hold sw itch)
2 = Setting (touch sw itch)
Decelerating (hold sw itch)
Norm ally the vehicle is acceler
ated to the desired speed w ith
the accelerator. Speed is set
by briefly pushing the sw itch
to position "
1
" or "
2
", and the
accelerator can be released.
The speed can be increased
(e. g. fo r passing) by using the
accelerator. As soon as the ac
celerator is released, the pre
viously set speed w ill be re
sumed autom atically.
If the set speed is to be in
creased or decreased slightly
(e. g. fo r adaption to the flo w
o f tra ffic), hold sw itch in po
8623
sition "
" or "
" until the de
1
2
sired speed is reached. W hen
the sw itch is released, the
new ly set speed remains con
stant.
3 = Cancelling
To cancel th e cruise control,
briefly push lever to posi
tion "3".
The cruise control w ill also be
cancelled when the brake or
clutch pedal is actuated or if
on steep gradients the vehicle
speed drops by more than
approx.
% below the set
20
speed.
4 = Resume
If the lever is briefly pushed to
position " 4 " when driving at a
speed exceeding approxim ate
ly 16 — 40 km /h /1 0 — 25 mph,
depending on model, that
speed is resumed w hich was
set prior to the cancellation o f
the cruise control. The last
memorized speed is cancelled
w hen th e key in the steering
lock is turned to position "
or "
0
".
Im portant:
Please do not use the cruise con
trol if tra ffic conditions do not
make it advisable to m aintain a
steady speed, i. e. in heavy tra ffic
or on tw isting or slick and m uddy
roads.
Position "R esum e" should be en
gaged only if the driver is fully
aware o f the previously set speed
and wishes to resume this par
ticular preset speed.
In the case o f manual transmissions
the vehicle m axim um speed in the
individual gears should not be
exceeded. See line markings on the
speedometer. In the case o f a uto
matic transm issions the selector
lever m ust not be shifted to position
" N " w hen driving w ith the cruise
control engaged as otherwise the
engine w ill overrev.
