M as te r Lock System
The master lock system sim ulta­
neously locks or unlocks together
w ith the driver's door all other
doors, fuel tank filler flap and trunk
lid. As the driver's door plunger is
moved, the plungers o f all other
doors m ust move at the same time.
If this is not the case, the lock of
the corresponding door has not en­
gaged fully. Open the door once
more and close it correctly.
W hen the master lock system has
been applied, the lock plungers of
the fro n t passenger door and the
rear doors can also be operated
manually from inside. In addition to
this, the fro n t passenger door can
be locked or unlocked by means
o f the key.
The master lock system can only
be applied by depressing the
plunger on the driver's door. Lock
plungers o f the other doors cannot
be depressed individually.
The trunk lid can also be unlocked
separately by turning master key
counterclockw ise to the stop. Push
the trunk lock button in w ith it and
lift the lid. Return the key to its ini­
tial position and w ith d ra w it. To
lock the lid, close it firm ly. It w ill
then be locked again by the master
lock system.
A provision has been made to
facilitate perm anent locking o f the
trunk lid fo r positive prevention of
access to trunk by unauthorized
persons.
Before leaving vehicle w ith an a t­
tendant, lock trun k w ith mas­
ter key (square head) by turning
key clockw ise to stop (tum bler slot
vertical), then provide attendant
w ith round-headed supplem entary
key. Thus, the trun k lock has been
excluded from the operation o f the
master lock system and cannot be
opened except w ith the square­
headed master key.
To reverse this, turn trun k lock
counterclockw ise back to horizon­
tal position o f the tum bler slot
w ith master key. Lock w ill then be

reengaged in master lock system;
th a t is, it w ill autom atically be
locked or unlocked depending on
w hether the driver's door is locked
or unlocked.
The master lock system operates
on vacuum generated by the en­
gine. A reservoir allows the master
lock system to be actuated about
five tim es after the engine is turned
off. If the system can then no
longer be engaged, idle engine fo r
a short period.
If no vacuum is available, doors
and trun k have to be locked individ­
ually in the normal manner. The
fuel tank filler flap, however,
remains unlocked.
Note:
If the filler flap cannot be opened
when the master lock system is
unlocked, refer to "U nlocking o f
the Filler Flap" (page 72).
