    1. SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS To ensure safe operation – • Honda snow thrower is designed to give safe and dependable service if operated according to instructions. Read and understand this Owner’s Manual before operating the snow thrower. Failure to do so could result in personal injury or equipment damage.
  • Page 6 • Exhaust contains poisonous carbon monoxide, a colorless, odorless gas. Breathing carbon monoxide can cause loss of consciousness and may lead to death. • If you run the snow thrower in an area that is confined, or even partially enclosed area, the air you breathe could contain a dangerous amount of exhaust gas.
  • Page 7 • Keep flames and sparks away from the batteries. Batteries produce explosive gas that can cause explosion. • Handle the battery electrolyte with extreme care as it contains dilute sulfuric acid. Contact with your skin or eyes can burn you or cause loss of your eyesight.
  • Page 8 You may prevent an accident or equipment damage. • Honda snow throwers are designed to give safe and dependable service if operated according to instructions. Read and understand this Owner’s Manual before operating the snow thrower. Failure to do so could result in personal injury or equipment damage.
  • Page 9 • Adjust the snow discharge chute to avoid hitting the operator, bystanders, windows, and other objects with ejected snow. Stay clear of the snow chuter while the engine is running. • Children and pets must be kept away from the area of operation to avoid injury from flying debris and contact with the snow thrower.
  • Page 10 • Never run the engine in an enclosed or confined area. Exhaust contains poisonous carbon monoxide gas; exposure can cause loss of consciousness and may lead to death. • The muffler and engine become very hot during operation and remains hot for a while after stopping the engine. Be careful not to touch the muffler and engine while they are hot.

  • Page 51: Carburetor Modification For High Altitude Operation

High altitude performance can be improved by specific modifications to the carburetor. If you always operate your snow thrower at altitudes above 1,500 meters (5,000 feet), have your authorized Honda servicing dealer perform this carburetor modification. This engine, when operated at high altitude with the carburetor modifications for high altitude use, will meet each emission standard throughout its useful life.
  • Page 52: Snow Thrower Operation

    7. SNOW THROWER OPERATION Before operating this equipment you should read and understand the SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS on page 3 through 8. Efficiency of the snow removal work is significantly affected by the snow condition (e.g. dry, wet etc.). Adjust the skid position, the scraper position, and the auger housing height as needed for optimum snow removal.
  • Page 53 NOTE: • Adjust the skid equally on both sides. • Be sure to tighten the skid and scraper bolts securely after making adjustment. CAUTION: Do not use the snow thrower on rough or uneven surfaces with the auger ground clearance set for hard snow or surfaces. This may cause serious damage to the snow blowing mechanism.
