health. Touching or breathing-in the dust can cause allergic
reactions and/or lead to respiratory infections of the user or
bystanders.
Certain dust, such as oak or beech dust, is considered carci-
nogenic, especially in connection with wood-treatment ad-
ditives (chromate, wood preservative). Materials containing
asbestos may only be worked by specialists.
– Provide for good ventilation of the working place.
– It is recommended to wear a P2 filter-class respirator.
Observe the relevant regulations in your country for the ma-
terials to be worked.
Avoid dust accumulation at the workplace. Dust can
u
easily ignite.
Operation
Starting Operation
Inserting the battery
Push the charged battery (9) into the base of the power tool
from the rear until the battery is securely locked.
Setting the rotational direction
The electronic rotational direction switch (7) is used to
change the rotational direction of the power tool. However,
this is not possible while the on/off switch (14) is being
pressed.
Setting right rotation (see figure I)
To drill and drive in screws, push the electronic rotational
direction switch (7) down.
The rotational direction indicator for right rotation
(5) lights up when the on/off switch (14) is
pressed, the rotational direction switch (7) is
pressed and the motor is running.
Setting left rotation (see figure J)
To loosen or undo screws and nuts, push the electronic rota-
tional direction switch (7) down.
The rotational direction indicator for left rotation
(6) lights up when the on/off switch (14) is
pressed, the rotational direction switch (7) is
pressed and the motor is running.
Preselecting the torque
The torque presetting ring (3) can be used to preselect the
required torque in 20 stages and "MAX". Once the set torque
has been reached, the application tool will be stopped.
Setting the operating mode (see figure K)
Only operate the mode selector switch (4) when the
u
power tool is not in use.
You can pre-select two speed ranges with the mode selector
switch (4).
Screwdriving mode (first screw phase):
Low speed range; for screwdriving or working with a large
drilling diameter.
Drilling/impact drilling mode (second screw phase):
High speed range; for working with a small drilling diameter.

Screwdriving
Set the torque presetting ring (3) to the re-
quired torque.
Set the mode selector switch (4) to the
"screwdriving" symbol.
Drilling
Set the torque presetting ring (3) to "MAX".
Set the mode selector switch (4) to the
"drilling" symbol.
Impact drilling (AdvancedImpact 18)
Set the torque presetting ring (3) to "MAX".
Set the mode selector switch (4) to the "im-
pact drilling" symbol.
Switching on/off
To start the power tool, press and hold the on/off switch
(14).
The light (12) lights up when the on/off switch (14) is lightly
or fully pressed, meaning that the work area is illuminated in
poor lighting conditions.
To switch off the power tool, release the on/off switch (14).
Adjusting the Speed
You can adjust the speed of the power tool when it is on by
pressing in the on/off switch to varying extents.
Applying light pressure to the on/off switch results in a low
rotational speed. Applying increasing pressure to the switch
increases the speed.
Fully automatic spindle lock (Auto-Lock)
The drill spindle, and therefore the tool holder, are locked
when the on/off switch (14) is not pressed.
This allows screws to be driven in even when the battery is
discharged and enables the power tool to be used as a
screwdriver.
Temperature-dependent overload protection
In normal conditions of use, the power tool cannot be over-
loaded. If the power tool is overloaded or the permitted bat-
tery temperature is exceeded, the electronics of the power
tool will switch off until the temperature returns to within the
optimum operating temperature range.
The three LEDs in the battery charge indicator (13) and the
PowerLight (12) flash quickly when the temperature of the
battery is outside the operating temperature range of –20 to
+50 °C and/or the overload protection has been triggered.
Protection against deep discharge
The lithium-ion battery is protected against deep discharge
by the Electronic Cell Protection (ECP). When the battery is
discharged, the power tool is switched off by means of a pro-
tective circuit: The application tool no longer rotates.
Working Advice
Only apply the power tool to the screw when the tool
u
is switched off. Rotating application tools can slip off.
