I think I need a new receiver -- the light at the top is orange and it is not communicating with the thermostat although I have changed the batteries.

An orange (amber) light on the Hive Active Heating receiver indicates that it is in "remote heating" mode and ready to connect to the hub and thermostat.

To resolve communication issues with the thermostat:

1. Ensure the receiver’s status light is flashing, showing it's ready to connect.
2. Check if the hub is flashing amber. If not, log into the Hive website, go to the 'Devices' page, and click 'Add devices'.
3. Follow the setup steps, including holding the Central Heating button on the receiver until the status light changes to amber.
4. If the thermostat displays the inside temperature and the 'status' and 'central heating' lights are solid green, the system is working correctly.

If problems continue, further troubleshooting may be needed.

To fix the communication issue between your Hive Active Heating thermostat and the receiver, follow these steps:

1. Check the Hub Connection: Ensure the hub is plugged in and the broadband is working. A solid or flashing red light on the hub indicates it has failed to connect to the Hive servers.

2. Ensure Range: Check if the thermostat remains in range of the receiver. If needed, add a signal booster to improve connectivity.

3. Re-Synchronize: Ensure all thermostats and receivers are properly paired. You may need to follow the pairing instructions again.

4. Power Cycle Devices: Turn off and then turn back on the thermostat, receiver, and hub to reset the connection.

5. Contact Support: If the issue persists, contact Hive Technical Support for further assistance.
