Congratulations on the purchase of your Russell Hobbs appliance. Each unit is manufactured to ensure safety and reliability. Before using the appliance for the first time, please read the instruction booklet carefully and keep it for future reference. Pass it on if you pass on the appliance.
BEFORE USING FOR THE FIRST TIME • Fill the water tank with clean water, and then empty the water to ensure the tank is clean of any manufacturing residues. Refill the tank. • The iron may give off an odour and small amount of vapour when switched on for the first time. This is normal and will stop as the element cures. • Press the burst of steam trigger 3 or 4 times, to prime and flush clean water through the burst of steam pump. • Press the cool spray mist button 3 or 4 times, to prime and flush clean water through the cool spray mist pump. • Iron an old piece of dampened cotton fabric or linen, to clean the soleplate. pREpaRaTION • Check for textile care symbols ( ) on items to be ironed. • Iron fabrics needing low temperatures first, then those that need medium temperatures , and finish with those needing high temperatures TEMpERaTURE SETTING GUIDE label marking temperature dot setting cool - nylon, acrylics, polyester...
FIRST TIME IRONING Remove any protective film or stickers for the soleplate and the cabinet. • Plug the power cord into the wall power outlet, and switch the outlet on. • A beep sound will be heard and the LCD will display all icons for 1 second and then turn off. • Press the Temperature down button once to turn the iron on. The LCD will display the fabric type, the temperature indicators and the steam off indicator. • Set the temperature as instructed in the ‘How to Set Temperature’ section. • The iron is ready for use. • Use an old piece of fabric when using the iron for the first time. • When the water tank is empty and there is no more steam produced refer to the ‘How to Fill Water’ section. STEaM GENERaTOR pUMp pROTECTIVE MODE If there is no water in the water tank and you are using steam for ironing, you would hear a strange noise from the steam generator pump.
• The fabric type will flash to indicate that the iron is heating up or cooling down. • When the fabric type stops flashing and stays on the fabric type you have selected, the iron is ready for use. • Press the Temperature down button for the reverse order setting. HOW TO SELECT THE pULSE STEaM MODE This function saves the amount of water used during steam ironing. • Check that there is water in the water tank. • Select the Pulse Steam Mode by pressing the Steam Mode selection button . The Pulse Steam Mode can be selected with the ‘Blend’ to ‘Linen’ fabric settings. • A double, continuous beep sound will be heard if you press the Steam Mode selection button with the non-permitted fabric setting. • To activate the Pulse Steam Release press the Steam On/Off button once, a beep sound will be heard. •...
aUTO SHUT-OFF Auto shut-off is a safety mechanism to stop the soleplate from heating when the iron is plugged in and motionless. It does not turn the iron off. • The automatic shut off device will activate in the: Upright position: After approximately 8 minutes Horizontal position: After approximately 30 seconds • When auto shut-off activates, the iron will beep once, and the ││ icon will flash on the LED display. The LED display will turn off and display a grey colour (not blue). • To switch on again, lift it up, tilt it forward, then sit it upright to return to its operating temperature. The iron will beep once and the LED display will turn on. • No settings are lost during auto shut-off.
aNTI-DRIp The anti-drip system is designed to prevent water escaping from the soleplate when the iron is too cold. During use, the anti-drip system may emit a loud clicking sound, particularly during heat-up or whilst cooling down. This is perfectly normal and indicates that the system is functioning correctly.
