Problem Description

Possible Cause
The keyboard is not connected to
the CPU drawer keyboard port.
The keyboard cable is not properly
connected.
You are not using the keyboard with
the proper monitor.
Liquid or dust spilled into the
keyboard.
Liquid spilled into the keyboard.
The key contacts are dirty.
The printer power switch is not set to
the ON position.
The power cord is not connected to
an AC outlet.
The power cord is not properly
connected.
The AC outlet is faulty.
The printer is off-line.
The printer data cable is not properly
connected.
The printer interface is not properly
set.
Solution
Check the cable connection to the system.
Properly connect the keyboard cable.
Use the keyboard with the system graphic
monitor.
Allow the keyboard to dry, or clean it with
alcohol or component cleaning spray.
Gently pull the key cap off and remove the
sticky substance with alcohol.
Clean the key contacts with a component
cleaning spray; allow the keyboard to dry
thoroughly before powering up the system.
Set the switch to the ON (I) position.
Connect the power cord to a working AC
outlet.
Properly connect the power cord to the printer
and to the AC outlet.
Try another AC outlet.
Press the printer ON-LINE switch and make
certain the ON-LINE LED lights.
Check the cable and connect it to the correct
port.
Check that the printer is set either to serial
mode if you are using a serial connection or to
parallel mode if you are using a parallel
connection. For more details, please refer to
the printer documentation.
