  • Page 3: What Is A Nebulizer And How Does It Work

    INTRODUCTION What is a nebulizer and how does it work? The compressor nebulizer system is a device that turns a liquid drug into a fine aerosol under the influence of the compressed air. Aerosol con- tains large and small particles. When breathing the gravity makes the larger particles accumulate on the walls of the upper respiratory passages while the smaller particles have enough time to reach the lower bronchial branches.

    Filter should be changed every 6 months or sooner if filter discolors. • Remove filter by turning the filter cover anticlockwise and pulling out of the unit. Discard old filter. • Replace with a new filter Additional filters should be purchased from your provider.

    Store in a zip lock bag. Keep the outer surface of the tubing dust free by wiping regularly. Nebu- lizer tubing does not have to be washed because only filtered air passes through it. Note: Do not towel dry nebulizer parts, this could cause contamination. It is recommended to replace the medication nebulizer medicine cup once a year or as directed by your doctor.
