Refer to the operating manual that comes with your blade server chassis for more information on
removing and replacing the switch module.

Complete the following steps to remove and replace a switch module.

1. Back up the switch module configuration to an FTP server by using the configUpload command.
The configUpload command uploads the switch module configuration to the server, making it
available for downloading to a replacement switch module if necessary. It is recommended that
you back up the configuration on a regular basis to ensure that a complete configuration is
available for downloading to a replacement switch module.
2. Stop all activity requiring the ports used by the switch module.
For details about port management, refer to the operating manual that comes with your blade server
chassis. Verify there is no activity by viewing the switch module LEDs.
3. Disconnect all cables from the SFP+ optical transceivers.
4. Remove the SFP+ optical transceivers from the switch module external ports.
5. Press the release latch to free the release lever, and gently pull the release lever out from the
switch module. The following figures show the open and unlocked view of the release lever and
release latch.
