Check the microphone Leave the processor on. Plug the listening headphones into the socket at the top of the processor. It is the smaller of the two sockets under the flap. You can listen to the quality of sound being picked up by the microphone (this is not the same as the signal the CI user is receiving).

Check the headset. Turn on the processor and set microphone sensitivity to 10 or 12. Put coil in place over implant. Speak normally into the microphone. If the segment meter moves, there is no problem with the connection between the processor and the headpiece.
