What do you need in a kit to troubleshoot the Sprint?
Batteries (2xAA)
transmitting cable
headset cable
Signal check (part no. Z22502)
lapel microphone
Monitor earphones for the sprint (part no. Z43139)
CL clinic contact numbers
Guide to codes on LCD
Check:
The low battery symbol is not showing.
The correct coil is properly in place. (Coil should have 'S' or 'L'
embossed on to it.)
Both the headset cable and transmitting cable are connected
properly.
The cables are not broken or cracked.
When the processor is working correctly 5 – 8
segments will show on the segment meter in
response to speech. The red indicator light will also
flash.
If the indicator light and segment meter do not respond to
sound:
• Change all batteries ensuring that they are in the correct way.
• Ensure that battery contacts are clean. Rub the terminals with
an eraser and clean with alcohol wipes if possible.

  • Page 2 Check the microphone Leave the processor on. Plug the listening headphones into the socket at the top of the processor. It is the smaller of the two sockets under the flap. You can listen to the quality of sound being picked up by the microphone (this is not the same as the signal the CI user is receiving).

  • Page 4 Check the headset. Turn on the processor and set microphone sensitivity to 10 or 12. Put coil in place over implant. Speak normally into the microphone. If the segment meter moves, there is no problem with the connection between the processor and the headpiece.
