9. Turn on power to the V.A.C.Ulta™ Therapy Unit, select the prescribed therapy settings,
and initiate therapy. Refer to the V.A.C.Ulta™ Therapy System User Manual for detailed
instructions.
NOTE: The Test Cycle tool on V.A.C.Ulta™ Therapy Unit may be used to confirm that the
system was set up correctly. Refer to the V.A.C.Ulta™ Therapy System User Manual for
instructions on how to set up therapy and use the Test Cycle tool.
10. The V.A.C. VeraFlo Cleanse™ Dressing should have a wrinkled appearance shortly after
therapy is initiated. There should be no hissing sounds. If there is any evidence of leaks, check
the seals around the V.A.C. VeraT.R.A.C.™ Pad or V.A.C. VeraT.R.A.C. Duo™ Tube Set pads,
V.A.C.
Advanced Drape, tubing connections, canister connections and V.A.C. VeraLink™
®
Cassette connections. Ensure all tubing clamps are open.
NOTE: The Seal Check™ tool on the V.A.C Ulta™ Therapy Unit may be used to check for
leaks in the system. Refer to the V.A.C Ulta™ Therapy System User Manual for instructions
on how to use the Seal Check™ tool.
NOTE: If a leak source is identified, patch with additional V.A.C.
seal integrity.
11. Secure excess tubing to prevent interference with patient mobility.
NOTE: If the wound is over a bony prominence or in areas where weight bearing may exert
additional pressure or stress to the underlying tissues, a pressure-relief surface or device
should be used to optimize patient offloading.
