6.4.1 Installation of devices
X
When installing apparatus, ensure
ATEX - IEC
compliance with the following:
– Minimum clearances and creepage distance
in Ex-d enclosures from enclosure wall and
to adjacent apparatus in accordance with
IEC/EN 60664-1, Table 1.
– Minimum clearances and creepage distance
up to 10 KV in the Ex-e connection box in
accordance withe IEC/EN 60079-1, Table 1.
– Correct installation of devices in accordance
with:
– The operating instructions
– Applicable regulations
– Connection documents
– Inspections specified by the
corresponding national laws.
6.4.2 Installation of built-in components
– Mounting plates, mounting rails, PE/PA rails,
busbar systems etc. can be fastened to the
bottom of the enclosure using the ribs with
mounting holes provided for this purpose.
The minimum distances from the internal walls
of the enclosure must be observed.
When installing terminal strips, special attention
should be given to ensuring the minimum
distance from threaded fittings.
(see Appendix 10.2)
Improper installation and operation of
Ex-d enclosures leads to loss of the
warranty.
a The temperature class and type of
protection stated on the equipment shall
be observed.
6.5

Electrical connection

a The connection of equipment may only
be carried out by qualified electricians.
a Prior to opening the enclosures, it is
necessary to ensure that the voltage supply
has been isolated or to take suitable
protective measures.
Connection for potential equalization on the
enclosure wall:
– In the case of terminal cross sections up to
35 mm², connection is made at the stud (see
Fig. 4) using a conductor with suitable cable
lug, ferrule or rigid wires. Cable lugs must be
used for terminal cross sections greater than
10 mm
. The test torque for the terminal
2
screw (M8 nut) is 10 Nm.
– If the terminal cross section is larger than
35 mm², an M12 screw-in thread according to
IEC/EN 60079-1, Table 3, is used.
Attention: Ensure that cable lugs are
crimped onto the cable properly.
The relevant regulations shall be taken into
consideration when connecting the correctly
stripped connection leads of the cables.
The minimum and maximum allowed conductor
cross-sections shall be observed
(see Technical Data).
The terminals are designed for the direct
connection of conductors with copper cores.
a To maintain the explosion protection, the
conductors shall be connected with special
care.
The insulation shall reach up to the terminal.
The conductor itself must not be damaged.
When using multi- or fine-wire connection
cables, the wire ends shall be treated in
accordance with the valid national and
international regulations (e.g. use of cable
end sleeves, ferrules).
All screws and/or nuts of connection terminals,
including those not in use, shall be tightened
down securely.
The wiring diagram for components being
installed is shown on the components or in
the operating instructions.
