alignment
tape
(N TSC:VHJ-OO05,
PAL: VHJ-0008),
and observe
the audio
output
waveform
on the oscilloscope.
Loosen
the
height
adjusting
screw
in the
counterclockwise
direction,
and decrease
the
amplitude
of the audio output waveform.
In this
state, tighten
the height adjusting
screw in the
clockwise
direction,
and maximize
the amplitude
of the audio output waveform.
Then tighten
the
height adjusting
screw in the clockwise
direction
slowly, and decrease
the amplitude
of the audio
output
waveform.
Next,
loosen
the
height
adjusting screw in the counterclockwise
direction
slowly and stop when the amplitude
of the audio
output waveform
starts to become
maximum.
Play the alignment
tape (NTSC:VHJ-OO06,
PAL:VHJ-
0009),
and observe
the audio output
waveform
on
the oscilloscope.
Rotate the azimuth adjusting
screw,
and maximize
the amplitude
of the audio
output
waveform.
Check that the tape edge runs between
the top edge
of the audio
head and bottom
edge of the control
head. Make sure that spaces A and B are the same.
Note:
Rotate
the height
adjusting
screw
using
a
slotted screwdriver
during adjustments,
but do
not apply force in the vertical
direction.
Rotate the height adjusting
screw slowly as it
also adjusts tilt, and be careful
not to rotate
excessively.
Never touch screws other than the
height adjusting
screw and azimuth
adjusting
screw
as they
are
adjusted
precisely
at
shipment.
If they are touched,
malfunctions,
etc. may result.

Loosen
the

VC"
(ACE head)
in the counterclockwise
direction
by 20° to 30°.
Adjust the position of the "assy, head rip ace VC"
(ACE head) using a slotted screwdriver.
Tighten
the fixing
screw of the "assy, head r/p
ace VC" (ACE head)
at the position
where
the
amplitude
of the envelope
waveform
becomes
maximum
at the tracking
center.
Check
that
when
the tracking
is changed
by
pressing the tracking
button in the plus direction
(A)
or minus
direction
(T),
the
envelope
waveform
changes
evenly, etc.
Play
the
alignment
tape
(NTSC:VHJ-OO07,
PAL:VHJ-O052),
and check that the amplitude
of
the envelope
waveform
becomes
maximum
at
the tracking center. If not maximum,
repeat steps
1) to 6).
Refer to the section on electrical
adjustments
in
the service
manual,
and perform
"adjust
the
switching
position"
of the servo circuit.
Note:
For multi-system
models,
perform
the same
adjustments
for the PAL model, and then play
the alignment
tape for NTSC, and check that
the envelope
waveform
becomes more or less
maximum
at the
tracking
center.
If not
maximum,
perform
the adjustment
for PAL
models again.
